“Eco-gastronomy” is what Slow Food is all about: a recognition of the connection between plate and planet. Slow Food is out to prove that responsibly produced food tastes better, is healthier, and is easy to incorporate into your life. Their organization is education-based, as is their website. Education begins on the most basic level — learning how to really taste your food — progressing to appreciation for where your food came from and who produced it. Slow Food holds educational events around the country where you can learn about eco-gastronomy firsthand. They also have a quarterly newsletter, as well as a wide selection of books that include food and wine guides, food essays and memoirs, educational texts, and more. Allow yourself to be convinced that slow is the way to enjoy food and life.
