Imagine a lot of Annie Leibovitzes running around, chronicling the world, bumping into one another now and then. Now transfer them all to cyberspace, and you’ve got Magnum Photos. As the site says, it’s “a photographic co-operative of great diversity and distinction owned by its photographer-members.” The members are avant-garde photographers and photojournalists who work for an array of publications and companies. The layout of the site is dark and sleek—moody, even. You’ll find info about the photographers themselves and the agencies they work for, an up-to-date blog, and, of course, a store, where you can buy anything from trinkets to signed books. You can also search for photographs taken by the members, and buy them if you like. Don’t hesitate to look, because there are tons of images on Magnum Photos—from LL Cool J’s appearance at a festival to a Hamas rally on the Gaza Strip. Anything can be found here.
