It’s a somewhat scary thought. In five years, digital media may just overtake print. Steve Haber, president of Sony’s digital reading business division, is convinced that the e-book market has gained so much momentum in the last few years that it is now unstoppable.
He said in a Telegraph article, “I have multiple meetings with publishers and tell them paradigm shifts happen. You can say fortunately or unfortunately you haven’t had a paradigm shift in, what, hundreds of years.”
Paradigm shift or not, the change may not be as extreme as some people imagine. Haber believes that reading will become a more flexible and “immersive” experience, depending on what readers desire.
